Assertiveness Training

Assertiveness training suggests that there are three ways that a person can handle a situation; they can be passive, aggressive or assertive. Most people understand what it means to react passively or aggressively, but often mistake assertiveness with aggression. Assertive people however are not aggressive, they have the ability to ask for what they want, they are able to freely express their feelings, thoughts and desires, and they have control over their anger by not repressing their feelings but by expressing them in a controlled manner. A Psychologist uses assertiveness training to teach individuals techniques to become a more assertive person.

Conflict Resolution and Mediation

Conflict resolution is used by a Psychologist to ease or remove sources of conflict that lead to frustration and loss of efficiency. Counselling may prove to be helpful as it allows the individual to vent frustrations to an impassive listener; it also can help as the counsellor can offer solutions to help eliminate the source of disagreement.
