What is a registered psychologist?
All Psychologists are legally required to register with the National Psychologist Registration Board in the same way medical practitioners must be registered. This means that they must be competent and follow a strict Code of Conduct.
Not every counsellor or therapist is a registered Psychologist. Seeing someone who is registered ensures you receive high quality ethical treatment. (Exert from APS website.)
Ms MARIA MERCURI (DIRECTOR & PRINCIPAL PSYCHOLOGIST)
Ms Mercuri is the Director and Principal Psychologist at New View Psychology. She has had over ten years of experience as a clinical practitioner and has helped thousands of clients during this time.
She forms part of the Network Psychology team for the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and Work Safe Victoria. Her areas of expertise include mental health conditions associated with physical injury/pain; mental health conditions associated with trauma and mental health conditions arising out of workplace stress.
Ms Mercuri is also fluent in Italian and consults with many people from the Melbourne Italian community. Ms Mercuri holds a Masters degree in counselling psychology from Monash University, a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) from Swinburne University and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from RMIT.
Ms ROSLYN BERKOVITCH
Roslyn is a Psychologist with more than 30 years experience in counselling. Roslyn has extensive experience dealing with complex issues relating to children and adolescents, ranging from behavioural and learning disabilities to psychometric assessment.
Notably, Roslyn was the staff counsellor for all medical and nursing staff at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne; she has also been a school counsellor and has lectured in child psychology. She is also experienced in the provision of depression counselling, relationship counselling, anxiety treatment and marriage counselling.
Roslyn holds Undergraduate and Post Graduate qualifications in Psychology from the University of Melbourne.
Ms KIM DOBRZYNSKI
Kim is a registered psychologist and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. Kim has had extensive experience providing counselling services to a broad client group including children, adolescents and adults. Kim primarily adopts an integrated therapeutic approach drawing on a number of therapies including CBT, person-centred counselling, motivational interviewing and play therapy.
Kim has experience working with a broad range of presenting issues including Adjustment disorder, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Grief/ loss and Vocational counselling. With a background as a rehabilitation consultant, Kim has a solid understand on the effect physical injuries can have on client's mental health and has had experience providing pain management counselling.
Ms BRIDGETTE BENSON
Bridgette, B.A. Psych (Hon) is a Psychologist with extensive experience in marriage counselling and relationship counselling. She is currently undertaking her Masters Degree in Couples and Family Therapy. Bridgette has a special interest in assisting clients in Melbourne and regional Victoria to resolve relationship problems, working with both couples and individuals. Bridgette also specialises in areas of Depression Counselling, Anxiety and Panic Disorders, as well as relationship counselling and marriage counselling. She has a strong interest in the area of mind-body medicine, in particular the psychological contributors and consequences of cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
Ms MADELINE GROSSO
Madeline has experience working with both adults and adolescents. She has specific expertise in treating people recovering from trauma. In the past she has worked extensively with Victims of Crime and abuse clients.
She has gained experience working as a Rehabilitation Counsellor within government agencies such as Centrelink, and has also provided counselling within community health agencies and in general private practice around Melbourne.
Madeline will also assist you to recognise your own strengths, develop strategies to help you better cope with problems, and increase your confidence in your ability to resolve difficulties. Madeline uses many different techniques to suit the uniqueness of each person. She holds Undergraduate and Post Graduate qualifications in general psychology from Victoria University.
Dr JESSICA ROSS
Dr Ross is a registered Psychologist with doctoral level training offering psychology treatment to adults and older adults for a range of issues. Her areas of interest and experience include antenatal and postnatal depression treatment, depression counselling, anxiety, grief and loss, the management of chronic health conditions and chronic pain.
Dr Ross has a particular interest in behaviour change and assisting individuals to overcome addictive/unhealthy behaviours (e.g. smoking, gambling, overeating) and make positive changes (e.g. increase exercise, maintain a healthy diet, reduce stress) to enhance their lives. Jessica uses an evidence-based approach and works primarily from a CBT framework. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hon) Psychology and a Doctor of Psychology (Health) degree from the University of Melbourne.
Ms ELENA DIGIACOMO
Elena is a registered Psychologist with many years of experience in working with adults, adolescents and children. She graduated from Victoria University and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Adolescent and Child Psychology from the University of Melbourne. She has also undertaken extensive studies in psychoanalysis with the Australian Centre for Psychoanalysis. Her experience has grown from working in community health centres, psychiatric rehabilitation, and her own private practice. Of recent she has also being lecturing in the Diploma of Community Welfare.
In her work Elena uses various theoretical approaches, depending on the client individual needs. And, according to the modalities this could range from short-term to long-term therapy, depending on the complexity of the issues presented. Some of the issues she has worked with are in the area of mental health, such as Depression, Anxiety disorders, Phobias, etc., individual and Relationship issues, Separation, Divorce, Parenting, Adolescent identity issues, ranging from Self-esteem to Eating disorders.
Elena has a particular interest in working with children in addressing their social and emotional disturbances.
Elena is of Italian background and speaks fluently in Italian.
Mr RON JONTOF-HUTTER
Ron is one of our male senior Psychologists. He has worked with diagnosis and treatment across a broad spectrum of psychological conditions including mood disorders such as anxiety and depression counselling, aged care, executive burnout and work related stress. He also stresses lifestyle issues that can improve quality of life and inhibit the tendency toward illness. Ron has significant clinical experience in areas such as pain management, sleep disorders and stress. Additionally, Ron has extensive relationship counselling and marriage counselling experience regarding conflicts and co-dependency.
Ms MELISSA MIZZI
Melissa has extensive experience working for a major public mental health service in Melbourne involving the case management of patients with complex psychiatric conditions and behavioural disturbances including: schizophrenia, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. Melissa has worked with individual job seekers in Job Services Australia (JSA), Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) and Disability Employment Services (DES) to assist them to overcome Psychological barriers to gaining and maintaining employment.
Melissa has extensive experience in counselling clients with the following issues: depression, anxiety, self esteem issues, anger management, stress management and marriage and relationship issues.
Melissa holds Undergraduate and Post Graduate qualifications in Psychology from Monash University.
Mr FREDDY PEREDO
Freddy is a registered counselling Psychologist who has worked with a number of client groups in Melbourne and regional Victoria. He has a particular interest in working with children, young people and individual adults dealing with various psychological issues. These issues include managing stress, anxiety, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, depression counselling and relationships. Freddy is committed to working alongside clients using various best practice psychological approaches to discover the best possible outcome for the client.
Freddy holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from Monash University, a Bachelor of Nursing from Deakin University and a Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Critical Care) from Deakin University.
Dr HELEN POWER
Dr Power is a registered clinical Psychologist in private practice and in the public mental health services, assisting adults from young to older age. Dr Power is currently working with adults at Rowville Health, providing counselling to residential clients in Aged Care facilities in the south-eastern region of Melbourne, and attending client referrals from the Aged Psychiatry Assessment and Treatment Team at Broadmeadows Health Services.
She uses different therapeutic modalities for treating anxiety disorders and delivering depression counselling, such as person-centred supportive counselling, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and brief psychodynamic therapy.
She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Deakin University, Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology from Monash University, and has graduated from the Doctoral program in Clinical Psychology from Victoria University.
Ms ROSEMARY DE CASTELLA
Rosemary is a registered Psychologist and member of the Australian Psychological Society. She has interests and experience in a broad range of areas, including depression counselling and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, relationship counselling and marriage counselling, life transitions, spirituality, self-esteem, trauma and abuse. She has worked in elderly care settings in Melbourne and regional Victoria and has extensive experience in crisis counselling, suicide prevention and bereavement counselling.
Rosemary is a Psychologist who aims to respond to the individual needs of each client, drawing from a range of modalities, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), CBT, process-experiential emotion - focused therapy (PEEFT) and body -centred therapies. She works from a person centred framework and incorporates existential and positive psychology approaches to promote healing and personal growth across the life span.
Rosemary holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Monash University.
Dr AILEEN ALEGADO
Dr Alegado is a clinical Psychologist who specialises in CBT with adults and older adults. She has experience working with people struggling with anxiety, anger, grief and loss, stress management and life adjustment issues and in providing depression counselling, relationship counselling and marriage counselling. She integrates mindfulness and psychodynamic approaches into her therapy and has experience running psycho-educational and therapy groups in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Aileen obtained her first class honours and completed her Doctoral of Clinical Psychology from the University of Auckland and has worked in both private and public sectors.
Aileen has a strong interest in the field of neuropsychology particularly in assessment of dementias and rehabilitation of cognitive disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment and late life issues.
Ms JANELLE TULLOCH
Janelle is a registered psychologist and draws on over 15 years experience working with adults, children, adolescents and their families.
Her areas of interest include Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment and emotional issues and Relationship conflict particularly in young children, believing early intervention creates the best opportunity for change.
Janelle has also worked extensively with suicide intervention, coordinating Lifeline's suicide intervention team for several years. She also facilitates groups for young people such as Fun Friends, a resilience building program and Confident Kids.
Janelle uses evidence based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Analytical Therapy to achieve the best outcome for her clients.
Ms LYNDA KNELL
Lynda is a registered Psychologist who is experienced in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of individuals with a range of psychological issues. This includes work with adolescents and adults for the management of anxiety, carers' issues, health behaviour change and eating issues (obesity), life transition, grief and loss, aged care, separation issues, personality disorders and women's issues.
Lynda's treatment is drawn from evidence based practice. Her past experience has been in crisis counselling, trauma therapy, child development, health behaviour change, aged and disability therapy, depression counselling, relationship counselling and marriage counselling.
Lynda holds a B.A. (Psychology), Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology and Diploma in Interpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Ms GLORIA DOUGLAS
Gloria is a registered counselling psychologist and an educational and developmental psychologist who as over 25 years experience in the field. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings both in Australia and the UK including schools, universities and private practice assisting young people and adults as they cope with a variety of crises and difficulties, learn ways of managing their lives effectively and make sense of their experiences. She uses a collaborative and integrated approach drawing on frameworks from cognitive behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy, solution focussed therapy, psychodynamic ideas, family therapy and existential and humanistic approaches.
Gloria has particular expertise and interest in depression and anxiety management, trauma recovery, lifespan issues, interpersonal and relationship issues, developmental and identity concerns, and behavioural difficulties. Her work includes that with individuals, couples, groups, families and staff over a wide age range and different cultures.
Gloria holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from Swinburne University, a Postgraduate Diploma of Educational Psychology from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Family therapy from Plymouth University.
Ms LOREN BYFORD
Loren has over 10 years experience working therapeutically with children, adolescents, adults and couples. She holds a Masters degree in Educational and Developmental Psychology completed at Monash University and has been a registered psychologist for 6 years.
Loren has worked in variety of settings including schools, community centers, public mental health services and private practice. She incorporates principles of positive psychology and solution focused techniques in her work and predominantly utilises CBT and mindfulness frameworks.
Loren has successfully treated anxiety disorders, depression, adjustment issues, behavioural disorders, developmental disorders, trauma, anger issues, eating disorders, addiction and stress. Loren adopts a psycho-educational and coaching approach when appropriate to assist her clients to develop communication and performance skills. Loren is driven by her value of compassion and strives to understand her clients' needs and how to assist them in their journey.
Ms MARISSA WARLAND
Marissa is a registered psychologist and Member of the Australian Psychological Association (MAPS), who works with adolescents and adults. She has received training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness.
Her approach to therapy is solution-oriented, respectful, and client-centred, aiming to assist clients with a wide range of presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship and life adjustment issues and promoting self-development. A typical session is used to examine beliefs and approaches that are not working for the client, and help them find creative and flexible ways to approach these problems by providing information, constructive feedback, and practical strategies where possible to help them better understand their experience and develop ways to better respond to their needs.
Dr ANDRE GOMEZ
Dr Andre Gomez is a fully registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) and AHPRA, and has experience with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. He holds a Masters (Organisational Psychology) and PhD from the University of Melbourne.
Dr Gomez currently has over fifteen articles published in prominent international journals, and draws on this and other recent advances in treatment techniques to inform his practice. He incorporates a variety of approaches to compliment proven Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques, and adheres to the professional ethical guidelines of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Andre has extensive assessment experience through his work at the Royal Children's Hospital.
Ms LINDA RUSSELL
Linda works with individuals and couples who are experiencing relationship difficulties, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, stress, depression, motivation, self esteem, and with those doing personal development work. Linda's therapeutic work is influenced by humanistic, existential and cognitive approaches. She works with clients to promote self awareness and self development and helping them discover their personal strengths in order to live a more rich and meaningful life.
Dr. SRIDEVI KOLLI
Dr. Sridevi Kolli is a Clinical Psychologist. She has over 15 years of experience providing psychological therapy for adults, the elderly and migrants from different backgrounds with a variety of issues. Her areas of interest and experience include stress, drug and alcohol, domestic violence, depression and anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, PTSD and migrants & acculturation.
She believes in a Bio-psychosocial approach to psychological therapy addressing the interaction of biological and psychological social influences which play a significant role in human functioning in the context of illness. Adopting an eclectic approach she utilises a variety of approaches that best suits the individual's needs. Mr ANTHONY ARIS
Mr Anthony has nearly 20 years of experience as a registered psychologist practicing across, education, health and corporate settings, both public and private. He holds postgraduate qualifications in both psychology and education and is member of Australian Psychological Society. In that time he has delivered to a broad range of client groups including, children, adolescents, families, and adults presenting with both clinical and sub-clinical presentations.

Ms FAYE EVANS
Faye is a registered psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is also a member of ADAVIC (Anxiety Disorders Association of Victoria) and AACBT (Australian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) with ten years of experience counselling families, children, youth and adults. Applying a humanistic existential approach combined with CBT strategies, engaging in psycho-education, life skills methods, positive psychology and mindfulness.
Faye has also worked as a school counsellor with vast experience in assessment and diagnostic in development and has offered training in parenting effective skills, counselling children using CBT, play and art therapy. She has worked with pre and post natal depression, conducted group counselling, prevention programs and career guidance for teenagers.

Pam is a registered Psychologist in the state of Victoria and a member of the Psychological Society. Pam has undergraduate and post graduate psychology and business qualifications. Pam joins us with extensive experience with issues affecting ageing and disability, and personal and business development. Mr GREG ASHER
Greg is a registered psychologist who works with adults & adolescents with issues such as trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, vocational counselling, AOD problems, academic performance, workplace issues and rehabilitation problems.
Greg has gained experience treating people across a range of organisations. He has previously worked for Mensline undertaking relationship and AOD counselling, worked for the Vietnam Veterans Counselling war veterans and their families. Greg has lecture red and counseling in schools and case managed the treatment of returned servicemen He has also worked for occupational rehabilitation providers treating workplace issues such as bullying and critical incident responding, and also as a rehabilitation consultant assisting injured workers with vocational counselling.
Greg holds a Master in Health Psychology from Monash University, Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from Bond University and a Bachelors Degree majoring in psychology from Swinburne University. Ms MELISSA BAH
Melissa is a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. She works with adults and adolescents utilizing a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness and relaxation techniques. She is committed to working with each individual’s needs and goals using a person-centered approach. Melissa has worked with people experiencing difficulties with anxiety (Inc panic attacks and phobias), depression, stress, workplace issues, grief and loss, post natal depression, family and relationship issues and trauma. Another area of specialty having come from an occupational rehabilitation setting is her understanding of the impact of injury on one’s mental health. Additionally, she has extensive experience providing vocational guidance, career assessment and testing to those who wish to change career and are unsure of their options.
Ms ALLA DEMUTSKA
Alla is a registered psychologist and an Associate Member of Australian Psychological Society. Alla has experience in a variety of community settings, where she was providing assessment and treatment for adults, adolescents, and children.
Alla is specializing in treating anxiety and mood disorders, with particular interest in social anxiety. She works with a broad variety of issues, including grief, anger, stress, sleep disturbances, low confidence and self esteem. She is also interested in group therapy and immigrant adaptation in Australia. Alla utilizes different evidence-based therapies in her practice, in particular, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
In her work, Alla is focusing on establishing trusting relationships with a client. She assists clients in developing self-awareness, in recognizing and changing unhelpful patterns of behavior in their lives. Ms ALISON HART
Alison brings to counseling extensive experience from the corporate legal and training/teaching background having previously worked as a Lawyer. Having worked mainly for private practice she sees children, adolescents and couples with the emphasis on client focused therapy and evidence based practice. Her approaches include: cognitive behavior, behavior psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, narrative and relationship therapy.
Alison's past experience has been treating a diverse range of conditions, including: depression, post traumatic stress, stress, drug & alcohol addiction, mediation and couples counseling.
Ms ELAINE DARMANIN
Elaine is a registered Psychologist and Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society. Her experience includes working with a broad range of presenting issues such as generalised anxiety, depression, self esteem as well as general maladaptive sleep behaviours. Elaine can also provide assistance in areas of general personal development including stress management, assertiveness training and social skills development. In order to suit the individual’s needs and goals of therapy, Elaine incorporates various evidence based approaches, techniques and strategies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness.
Elaine’s background and continuing work in vocational rehabilitation also lends experience in pain management, vocational assessment, counselling and guidance as well as experience in the administration and interpretation of WAIS IV Intellectual assessments.

Ms TANIA ZIARAS
Tania Ziaras comes to New View Psychology with more than 9 years' experience as a Registered Psychologist working in both clinical and corporate environments. She has worked in a variety of settings which have seen her practice across acute mental health and rehabilitation settings to public sector wellness initiatives. She has experience directing a successful occupational rehabilitation practice and has directly consulted the Victorian WorkCover Authority in the area of Return to New Employer Services.
Particular areas of interest include Anxiety & Stress, Depression, Adjustment to major life changes, Work/Job Stress, WorkCover, ComCare, Medico legal Assessment, Corporate Wellness Training & Employee Assistance Counselling. Tania is passionate about supporting and empowering clients as they develop through therapy and learn new methods for coping with life's challenges. She also engages in high level consultation to ensure effective outcomes are achieved for all key stakeholders.
Tania is quite pragmatic and adopts a range of therapeutic approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to Client/Centered Focus. She has a professional and engaging style to ensure supportive outcomes are achieved.
Mr CHRIS WINKLER
Chris Winkler is a registered Psychologist and has completed a Bachelor of Psychology (First Class Honours) and Master of Clinical Psychology. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), an associate member of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists, and a member of the Anxiety Practitioners Network (APN).
Chris has experience working with clients from childhood through to older adulthood in both public and private settings. He uses evidence based psychological interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Schema Therapy. Ms SHARNA HUGHES
Sharna Hughes is fully registered with the Psychologists' Registration Board of Australia, and holds a Diploma in Body-psychotherapy. Sharna also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psych), Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology, a Masters of Psychology - Counselling and a Diploma of Body-Psychotherapy (Core Energetics).
She has an expertise in mood disorders, trauma and addictions and is able to provide both short-term (i.e. CBT) and longer-term (i.e. Psychodynamic) therapeutic support. Sharna counsels people on a broad range of issues some of which include, anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, addictions, self-esteem, existential crises, somatic disorders and workplace issues;
applying evidence-based strategies to help her clients identify how the past has interred with living comfortably in the present, or by simply addressing the question of what would be required to gain a more satisfactory mode of life.
Ms EMMA Mc DOUGALL
Dr McDougall is a registered clinical Psychologist who has previously worked in private practice and the public sector. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents with trauma and complex behavioural needs.
She has worked with adults with depression, anxiety, family issues, grief and loss, anger management and stress management. Dr McDougall incorporates a number of approaches to work with clients including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuroseuential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.
She holds a Bachelor of Science from The University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from Deakin University and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Deakin University.
